What I Wore -- Father's Day 2011

Did you miss me?

Awww! I missed you too! =)

But I'm back with some photos from last Father's Day, went out with my two boys
and Gabe's friend Wen Xing. It's actually a double celebration because we're also celebrating hubby's birthday which was last June 17th and so after the gift-giving and opening the night before Father's day, we went out that Sunday and ate at this Japanese Teppanyaki resto at MixC mall and here is what I wore...

I wore my blue maxi tube dress from this post and put an [neon-ish]orange slim belt, and my pink braided thong sandals experimenting on the neon and
color-block trend all in one outfit... =]

I piled on some white and silver thin bangles/charm bracelets (Juicy Couture -- wish I had a close-up shot of them) and my favorite summer accesory, my white wooden bead necklace...

It's nice to have your own paparazzi anywhere you go, photographing your every move *wink*
Thanks for these photos, I love you, mwah!
Oh, didn't I say my hubby is also my personal paparazzi? Well, he is! =)
Can you see the 'love' in my eyes?

And here is the awesome celebrant posing for a photo with us,

my boys are gorgeous aren't they?

Stocking up for the summer...

The 'heat switch' has been flicked ON!

What better way to enjoy the summer than to start hoarding stocking up on dresses!

i.love.summer.dresses.

They make my heart skip a beat!

3 maxis + a tunic

...as I am typing this, I already bought 5 in just a matter of 1 month! I would literally live in them this whole summer!

What I Wore - Floral Jumpsuit

Occasion - Indoor photoshoot

What I wore:
Floral jumpsuit [from last summer]
Hot pink slim belt, to highlight/define my waist
Tan wedge, see here
I accessorized with gold -- filigree earrings, stacked bangles and black cocktail ring

After looking at the photo, i realized that the shoes i was wearing doesn't go well with the whole outfit... I was thinking my new black wedge would have looked better! Oh well, one of those fashion faux pas we sometimes commit, lol!
See, i'm also not perfect ;-)

And how would you feel when you see a local celebrity wearing the
exact same outfit you're wearing?

To the MAX[i] - Celebrity Edition

Some people say maxi dresses or skirts is not for everyone, it isn't especially for short women... Very well, just take a look at how these stylish [short] women of Hollywood are rocking some MAXI-mum style and you be the judge.

Ashley Olsen stands at 5'0 flat

Rachel Bilson -- she could be 5'1

Nicole Richie -- she could be 5'0 or 5'1

So, what do you ladies think?

Bottomline, it can be worn! Those people who say otherwise are dumb!
Just take a look at these fashionably petite celebs! I
does not look bad on them and by carefully following some tips below, we, non-celebs  can rock it too!
* Maxis are best worn with flats (flipflops, ballet flats or sandals).
* Only wear heeled shoes or wedges if your maxi is overly long.
* Choose thin, light, flowy fabrics and avoid heavier ones, it would just drag you down.
* Go for slim A-line cut or prefer a straight one. Big full skirts can be overwhelming for a petite frame.

I also recommend wearing your hair up in a bun for a sleeker and slender look. It also adds a teeny tiny extra to your height which is what we're really after!

Color-blocking trend -- is it for you?

First, what is Color BlockingWell, it is combining/pairing of contrasting, loud, bright, solid colors that support and compliment each other.

Are you brave enough to try it? It is admittedly intimidating at first... but it is where you'll find it more challenging, mixing and matching everything in your wardrobe and with every [solid] color possible. It's more exciting! And you don't even have to spend, if you have solid color separates in your wardrobe, you can definitely start with those. It is also not just limited on the clothes... It can be a scarf, shoes or accessories, or it can also be your nail polish!

The possibilities are endless with color-blocking! It's more fashion forward!

So, is it for you? Be adventurous and try it, if you are not sure about color-combinations and you wanted to be safe, start with 2 colors like black and white or blue and white, then if you feel comfortable enough, try it with another color by adding a red belt on your black and white combo or a red shoes on your white and blue ensemble.

Fashion is all about taking risks so it's your choice.
